‘Little Chef at Home’ Program Aims to Keep Kids Fed

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Pilgrim’s helped provide students with nutritional meals, even as children were out of school.

During the school year, approximately 22 million kids rely on the National School Lunch Program for meals. With schools closed during the pandemic, many kids are left without guaranteed meals.

Pilgrim’s introduced the “Little Chef At Home” program to help fill this void and keep kids fed. Pilgrim’s contributed to meal kits, leveraging products from Pierce and Gold Kist to help families replicate school lunches at home. These meal kits provided added learning opportunities as well, with kids helping in meal preparation.

The program included additional support for the schools, including games to keep children engaged.

Pilgrim’s has expanded the program to more school districts across the country.
