Each year, the Joint Poultry Safety & Health Council sponsors the Joint Poultry Industry Safety Recognition Program for National Chicken Council (NCC), National Turkey Federation (NTF) and U.S. Poultry and Egg Association (USPOULTRY) members. The program seeks to motivate employers to continuously improve their safety performance through the establishment of sound safety and health programs at the facility level and to recognize those facilities that have achieved a high level of safety performance as part of a continuing effort to reduce occupational injury and illness.

The award levels that may be earned are based on an evaluation of each eligible facility’s safety performance as measured by TRIR and DART rates over the last three years and an evaluation of key components of an effective safety and health program. Awards levels are as follows, starting with the highest recognition: Distinction, Honor and Merit.
