About This Report | Pilgrim's Sustainability Report

The goal of our 2021 Sustainability Report is to provide a transparent account of our sustainability management approach and performance. This report has been prepared in accordance with GRI Standards: Core option. This year’s report also includes disclosures from the Meat, Poultry and Dairy sector as outlined by the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), as well as Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS).

In 2015, in partnership with our parent company JBS USA, Pilgrim’s conducted a corporate materiality assessment, and this report is based on the most relevant sustainability issues that were identified in that analysis. The five areas we prioritized from that assessment are: Animal Welfare, Energy and Climate Change, Product Integrity, Team Member Health and Safety and Water. This report also focuses on additional key topics, including emissions, recycling, waste, human resources, the communities in which we operate and our relationships with our suppliers.

This is our seventh Pilgrim’s Sustainability Report and is inclusive of all of our facilities in France, England, Mexico, the Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Puerto Rico and the United States. The report describes our activities and performance from our own operations and information on our supply chain whenever possible for the calendar year 2021. All subsidiaries and wholly-owned companies are included in the reporting scope.

Direct Response: Our Pilgrim’s sustainability program is supported by our Global CFO who reports directly to the Pilgrim’s CEO who reports to the Board of Directors. Additionally, the Pilgrim’s Board of Directors created an ESG Committee within the Board of Directors to help guide ESG strategy across the global company. Our Pilgrim’s sustainability program is also supported by the Corporate JBS USA Sustainability Department.
